Blue Trust

Blue is calming. The colour of the ocean. But it’s not just blue now, is it?

It’s blue, green, yellow, and sometimes brown, and then another shade of green?

I didn’t have a reference image for this.

I just wanted to get used to painting digitally. I went through a few photos in my camera roll, and eventually just screenshotted a portion of an image and went with it.

It’s so different painting digitally. I can’t say the exact colour. I would just pick it on the colour wheel and hope it works.

If it were acrylic, I probably would have used viridian, ocean blue, or ultramarine or even evergreen or alpine green, or mix it with yellow ochre to find the right colour.

But it’s also nice to create new muscle memory as I learn how to mix colours in clip studio paint. The brushes initially felt limiting, yet the more I painted the more exciting it became.

Blue can be a colour of trust. I love that one of the most popular images of “trust” is in the story of Jesus and Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14: 22-33.

How did he walk on water? I want that type of faith where I’m not looking at the waves but fully having my eyes fixed on His and walking towards Him. The Bible says faith without works is dead 1 . Perhaps that is connected to the definition of faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen 2.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God 3. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your paths 4. These are a few verses about faith. I need to meditate on them. It’s not by my own strength, but by the Holy Spirit5 that I’ll be able to trust God.

  1. James 2: 17

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

  1. Hebrews 11: 1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  1. Romans 10: 17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  1. Proverbs 3: 5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

  1. Zechariah 4: 6

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of theLord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith theLordof hosts.
